The Propel System is an innovative in-office accelerated orthodontics procedure that Dr. Parikh may use in conjunction with your orthodontic treatment like braces or Invisalign. It can even reduce the length of time it takes to shift your teeth into their desired position by half! Your Melville Orthodontist, Dr. Parikh recommends this accelerated approach to her patients looking for quicker results.
Accelerated Orthodontics: Propel Moves Teeth Faster
Propel treatment provides innovative devices and procedures to move teeth much quicker than ordinary treatment. Dr. Parikh can use Propel with clear aligners, clear braces, metal braces, and TADs (temporary anchorage devices). Propel uses your body’s natural biology to help bones respond faster to orthodontic treatment.
Propel works by removing some of the external surfaces of the bone, causing the bone to then temporarily decrease in mineral content. The tissue in the bone will release calcium as the new bone begins to form. While in this transition phase, bone is softer, and there is less resistance for the existing braces, allowing them to move up to 50% faster. What does this mean for patients? You’ll achieve a straighter smile in fewer in-office visits and less time overall!
The Propel Procedure in Melville, NY
At Hidden Smiles Orthodontic Studio, our team goes above and beyond to make sure your accelerated orthodontics treatment goes as smoothly as possible. Dr. Parikh will start by numbing your gums to make the procedure more comfortable. She will then make small, delicate incisions in the jawbone near each tooth where movement is necessary by using a drilling device. The goal of these micro-perforations is to make the bone more pliable, allowing the teeth to adjust and shift easier into their desired place.
